Senior League
(ages 11-12)
The primary goals of the Senior League are again teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline. The games are competitive, with complete rules of baseball followed. Skills will be refined, with players concentrating on a few defensive positions.
General League Rules
Bases: 65 feet, pitcher 46 feet.
Bats: Metal or wood, maximum diameter 2 5/8 inches.
Participation: Each player plays 6 outs prior to the start of the 6th inning. 10 players will play in the field. If one team has 9 players and the opposing team has 10 players, the team with 10 players may play all 10. If one team has 7 players, the game is considered a forfeit but the game can still be played and the team with more players may "donate" players to the team with 7 players.
Game: 7 innings, regulation after 5 innings.
Time limit: 2 hours
Slaughter rule: 10 runs after 5 innings.
Dropped third strike: Batter may advance to first.
Batting order: 7 runs scored in any inning except the last inning or 3 outs whichever comes first.
Base running: No leading off but may steal after ball has crossed home plate (runner is out if he leaves early and ball is dead). May advance and/or score on a passed ball.
Pitchers: May use the set position or full windup at any time. Balks: Called and enforced. (See rule 3.03)
Pitching:3 Innings pitched per game, innings must be consecutive. No more than 6 Innings in any 7 day period. One pitch will constitute an inning.
No breaking pitches will be allowed.
Playoffs: Seating based on win-loss record.
Playoff Pitching Rules:
PITCHING RULES FOR SENIOR LEAGUE PLAYOFFS 2008
1.)No pitcher may pitch more than four innings in one game or six innings for the tournament. One pitch constitutes an inning.
2.) A player may not pitch in three consecutive games.
3). Innings must be consecutive.
4). Regular season innings pitched do not count towards the pitching limit of 6 innings in seven days.
5.) PENALTY SHALL BE FORFEITURE OF GAME IN WHICH THE VIOLATION OCCURS.
